Press keys and watch the on-screen map react instantly. The tester tracks physical key codes, keys tested during this session, currently held keys, maximum simultaneous keys and possible rapid repeat symptoms.

A working physical key normally creates a keydown event and later a keyup event. Missing events can come from the keyboard, connection, remapping software, browser shortcuts, accessibility settings or the operating system. Some special media/vendor keys are not standardized and may not appear on a generic map.
Use repeatable conditions. One browser result is a diagnostic clue, not a complete hardware verdict.
Click or tap inside the keyboard panel.
Work across your keyboard row by row. Tested keys remain marked so you can see what is left.
If a key misses, sticks or types twice, press it several times and compare another browser or application.
For gaming combinations and simultaneous-key limits, use the dedicated NKRO / rollover test linked below.
This browser test listens for KeyboardEvent data. The code value is intended to identify physical key position, but support and special-key behavior vary across devices and browsers. Passwords or text fields are not part of this tester — do not type sensitive information here.
No. The key events update the local visual tester. NovaTools does not send the key stream to a server.
The browser or operating system can reserve combinations such as system shortcuts, media keys or security commands before the page receives them.
It can flag very rapid repeated non-auto-repeat key events as a clue. Retest suspicious keys because browser scheduling and the operating system can affect event timing.
Use the dedicated Keyboard Rollover Test, which focuses on simultaneous key combinations and reports the maximum keys observed together.
